Phantom conversations

I'm addressing you, when I'm talking to myself
And I'm talking to myself, all - day - long
They say impending lunacy, is marked by inability to speak clearly
Well since this is the case with me
I guess all the world will say I'm crazy

I'm talking to myself day after day after day
I compose the perfect letter, that says exactly what I want to say, ooh
Each one for himself, in a world too small for all to feed
So if you're with the wealthy/healthy half
Don't look at the unfortunates who bleed …

Sitting on top of an iceberg, and the water's getting hot
Chances are I will submerge, but worry I do not:
              Comfortable problems, occupy my thoughts
Like: How in the world am I gonna go & win back your heart?

Day after day after day after day after day
              I whisper talk and mumble
I'm starring in the little scenes I play
Is there no more to me than make-believe soliloqui?
Oh, no, no, no, I just hide awhile in reverie
              To keep reality under control
              I'm in control, I don't wanna know
